Epsilon Nu Tau Leadership Retreat
Thank you to all who joined us for the 2018 ENT Leadership Retreat in Nashville, TN the first weekend in January. We hope you had fun, learned a lot, and made some lasting connections. If you were unable to attend, here’s a look at what you missed. We hope you’ll be able to make the next one!
We started with dinner at Wildhorse Saloon where we did some networking and learning. The leaders of two Nashville startups involved in the Nashville Entrepreneur Center joined us. We met Enis Cirak, founder of Gigamunch, who coded the app for his business, and Cody Hutchins, who manages sales and manufacturing for Bohnd Bracelets. Bohnd Bracelets donates 10% of profits to fund pitch nights for high school entrepreneurs.
We also welcomed representatives from the Meetup Startup Nashville. Mckenzie Price founded a business consultancy, Growth Nashville, as well as the Meetup. Maverick, founder of ProtoComplete, works with startups who need prototypes to pursue funding. (And he can code in 10 languages!) We gained a strong sense of the thriving startup culture that has taken hold in “Music City”! After our Q-and-A with them, many ENT members hit the floor for some line dancing.
Saturday we got down to business with a tour of FashionABLE, a retailer that employs women from seven countries through their fashionable line of scarves, leather goods and jewelry.
Next, during a lunch-and-learn session, we worked on some leadership and problem-solving activities. Many of us will be putting these new skills into action once back on campus. Then it was more networking and fun when we visited an escape room. We broke into three teams, honing our teamwork and communication skills for this interesting activity.
All in all, we think ENT made an impression on Nashville–it sure made an impression on us! The city has great entrepreneurial energy, and we look forward to following the success of our new friends there. We hope all of ENT’s leaders returned from the retreat refreshed and ready for a great semester.
